Community Service

Remember the old saying - "Charity begins at home". White River is the home of Bushveld Safaris, Tours & Transfers and this is why we have made a commitment to the people in need in our community. Our commitment is:

Child Welfare White River

We will donate a percentage of our profit generated from all our "Bushveld Safaris, Tours & Transfers" tours and by doing so, we feel that not only do we help those who need all the help possible, but our clients will also be contributing indirectly to an extremely worthy cause.

White River is a small town situated in the province of Mpumalanga in the north eastern region of South Africa. Mpumalanga meaning the "land where the sun rises".

White River Child Welfare is a stable organization rendering a service to communities very much in need. White River Child Welfare is affiliated to the National Council for Child and Family Welfare. The office in White River was founded in 1991 when the need in the community arose for an own office in the community. The Organization is directed by a constitution and managed by a committee with representatives of all levels in the community.

White River Child Welfare believes that children should be treated equally and fairly and that the rights of all people, but especially those of children should be respected and promoted at all times. Their task is to assist and empower individuals, groups and communities. Child Welfare focuses on serving children under the age of 18, irrespective of race, religion, sexual orientation or gender.

White River Child Welfare is currently supporting the communities with material assistance (food and clothing), but they also have the following projects running:

They will be supporting these HIV / AIDS group by giving them individual counseling, group counseling, discussing problems that they come across every day and the importance of taking their medication every day.

HIV / AIDS PEER COUNSELING PROGRAM

This program has begun with an educational component that introduces young students (grades 4-7) to the basics of HIV / AIDS. This initiative will target all students at this level and will be in collaboration with Manzini Clinic.

The second half of the program is a peer-counseling project that targets older students (grade 8) who are at an appropriate age to learn more about their own sexuality and sexually transmitted diseases. Manzini Clinic trained ten students at Tsembanani Combined School as counselors and now these student-counselors will be able to discuss with their fellow students about their concerns rather than visiting local clinics. Student-counselors are able to answer basic questions about HIV / AIDS, the spread of the virus, provide students with information on local clinics and resources and maintain confidentiality.

EARLY CHILDHOOD DEVELOPMENT

EARLY CHILDHOOD DEVELOPMENT This program aims to develop early childhood educational initiatives (i.e. crèches and pre-schools) in communities where there are no such services. They will begin by training one member of a community. After completion of their training, they will assist them in developing a plan to implement crèche, daycare, or pre-school services in their communities
